About Me
The Artist/ Designer of Victoria Cho Jewellery and The Creator of V.Jones Designs - VICTORIA CHO-JONES
My name is Victoria Cho-Jones. I am an Artist, a Silver Smith, a Jewellery Designer, a Daughter, a Sister, a Wife, a BFF and a Girl-Mom.
Growing up as a Canadian born Chinese was a privilege in both countries - Hong Kong and Canada. I was very lucky to be able to study abroad during my high school OAC year in Toronto. I left my home town, Hong Kong, during my teenage years almost two decades ago. It was an extremely difficult decision to move to Canada on my own. It was quite an experience at the beginning to live in Toronto without my parents and my siblings to be honest. I still remember the day I had to say goodbye to my dear family and friends for good in the airport. It was heart breaking and it felt like it was just happened a few weeks ago. I miss them dearly every single day in tears for the first four months. You will find my paintings were quite dark and full of sadness.
Later on in my life, I have found excitement in metal-smith. The movement and sound of hammering and creating forms in metals makes me excited. I was able to explore various techniques with metal and in particular, jewellery making. Throughout the daily practices and studies, I had expanded my various techniques with drawings on the metal with pencil crayons like the Art Nouveau Collar Piece; Etching my drawings onto the metal like the Rhythm of the City collection.
The Art Nouveau Collage Piece was created in my second year of Jewellery making. It was an assignment that had gone through lots of critiques, presentations, more challenges and more tears.
The Etching you see on the Silver Brooches are my drawings on paper originally. It was a super fun technique where I could transfer my drawings from paper to the blue-print paper and onto the metal with chemicals. In the image below, you will find me tracing my original drawing onto the wall.

why Jewellery? IT ALL BEGINS AT ocad U...
I have discovered the joy of forming art and design on metal during my OCAD days back in the MAAD (Material Art And Design) faculty on the jewellery bench.
My passion for Fine Art has always been life-drawing, sketching and painting. On my second year in school, I was able to get into the MAAD program with Jewellery Design, Fibre Making and Ceramics. I dived into the Jewellery Design program as my major Bachelor Degree right away as the only thing in my mind was that I can make any jewellery I want to wear!
THAT’S EVERY GIRL’S DREAM!!!
I also enjoy Dance and Music very much ever since I was younger. Every time when I draw on papers, canvas, metals and on the wall, it is like a dance choreography that I am creating through different music tones, mood and rhythm in my mind. It is an expression that channels my creativity of my path in life in every single one of masterpieces.
In particular,
“The Rhythm of the City” was created for my Graduation Thesis in 2007.
Did anyone take the Highway today? Highway 407? Or travelling back and forth on Highway 401 & 404?
Have you ever think of how much does a Highway weight? If you have not find out yet. Here is the answer for you.
I have been measuring it since 2007. It weights only A FEW GRAMS!
The Rhythm of the City is a series that I did with highways. They are inspired by the birds eye view from an air plane looking down through the windows. You can see the highways are drawing lines of the cities.
